London, Nov 21 (SPUTNIK/UNI) A new drone production facility has opened in Swindon, southwest England, the UK government said.
"The purpose-built 40,000 sq ft factory, which was opened by the Minister for the Armed Forces Al Carns today, is STARK’s first production site outside Germany. It will begin manufacturing a range of AI-enabled uncrewed systems in the coming months," the government said in a statement on Thursday.
The statement does not specify whether the drones will be supplied to Ukraine, but it does note that the facility will produce "thousands" of the Virtus loitering munition, which has "already been successfully deployed in Ukraine."
Stark UK Managing Director Mike Armstrong said that the investment in the facility is intended to support the UK Defense Ministry, Ukraine, and other European partners. Production at the facility will begin in 2026, the statement noted.
